I never know what to put in the subject spot… So this time you guys get a smiley face 😀 So we had cambios again and I’m staying here in Cautin with Hna. Ellis. She’s going to be my first companion that I stay with for a full 2 cambios. I’m pretty excited cuz she’s super cool and we’re going to keep working hard.
This last week we set 3 baptismal dates. None of them came to the church but they’re all really great. The first one we found contacting her house and it was in the first visit where we were getting to know her and introducing our purpose and everything. Her name is Evelyn We gave her the invitation kind of like so if you find out for yourself that this is the true church would you be willing to get baptized by somebody who has the authority of God. I think she was the first sane person I’ve spoken to who said yes. We then set the date for the 7th of april as a goal to work towards and she said that was fine. To make it even cooler her house is a Hostel. (Not sure how to spell that word) but it’s super beautiful and she answered the door with this adorable apron on and brought us in to her beautifully designed and impeccably clean living room. When we left that appointment our mouths were hanging open for about half an hour in awe of what had just happened.
The second and third baptismal dates are for the 14th of april and we set that date for Solanche who’s a 20 year old with the cutest baby in the whole wide world. She also has a 3 year old brother who is super weird and crazy. He talks pretty much nonstop and is always full of energy and running all over the place and during the lesson where we set the baptismal date he was spanking my companions butt cuz she was sitting too far forward on the couch. Honestly I think he’s a really weird kid, but anywho even with all the distraction the spirit was there. Our only issue with her is that she usually goes out on the weekends with her boyfriend and baby to have some family time. Then we’ve got Juan Carlos. We contacted him on the street and he’s a very confusing distracted kind of guy who’s almost 50 so we weren’t thinking about him as a future investigator but he lives across the street from our ward mission leader and they already know each other cuz he took the lessons before. So he got into contact and had Hno. Rain set up an appointment with us in the church. He told us during the first lesson that he wants to find the truth. His life has been full of trials and heartaches and he wants to make some good changes and grow closer to God. So we set a goal for the 14th. We’ll have to see what happens.
I’ve discovered something super interesting here in Temuco. In general the rich people are a lot more humble than the poor people. The poor people here have been poor for so long and they’re so used to it that they probably have the hardest hearts I’ve ever seen. With the rich people there are 2 kinds. The 1 kind are the people who’ve been rich forever and the other have won their riches. The ones who won their riches are prideful and think they’re all that and the ones who’ve been rich their whole lives are kind and polite and treat everybody as equals. The poorer ones dislike the richer ones and think they’re better because they have less. This is all in general and there’s about a billion exceptions, but that’s the stereotypes that I’ve noticed here. I hope that I will always be humble and kind no matter if I’m rich or poor, cuz either way we’re all brothers and sisters spiritually and the gospel is the only way to eternal happiness.
