I’m not sure if the subject is English or Spanish or Spanglish but that’s the best that I’ve got. 🙂

This week was a little more peaceful. I talked to Elder Atkins, who’s a mission mental health counsellor (I think that means he’s like a Psychologist or something), just cuz I’ve been a little stressed out and I wasn’t sure why and after talking a bit he asked me what I was called to do. I told him, “bring people unto Christ.” He told me to guess again and a little confused I said, “¿Try to bring people to Christ?” He then told me to think about what it says in Preach My Gospel. After thinking for a sec. I had a lightbulb moment and responded, “Invite people to come unto Christ.” He then explained to me that I can be a great missionary and not have good visible results, because the thing that I am called to do is INVITE people to COME unto Christ. They have to decide whether or not they do it. He then explained to me how I need to be Christlike in every opportunity especially when people are mean and reject the message because that means that they might have a better disposition to accept the truth later on. After he explained all of that I felt a lot less stressed out. It’s kind of interesting because I knew all of that in a way, or at least I’ve heard about a million times that our missionary purpose is to bring people to christ and that numbers don’t matter, but I think there are a lot of missionaries that without realizing it, think that we need to BRING people unto christ, I was secretly one of them, but now I’m starting to get that it really doesn’t work like that at all. Since that conversation I’ve actually noticed a few missionaries say the phrase bring people unto Christ. I think they have the idea that we have to work hard which is true but we need to work hard to HELP people COME unto Christ. I’m going to work on focusing my efforts on just helping people by being Christlike and sharing the gospel with them. I’ve got a feeling that it’s going to work a lot better. 🙂
This week we weren’t able to go out very much because Thursday morning Hna. Bechthold got super sick but she’s already feeling better and yesterday we started to work more normally, but while being stuck in the house I studied really hard and learned lots. 🙂 Now we’re ready to work hard. It was kind of interesting to see cuz on Thursday morning she woke up and threw up then continued to feel nasty and faint for 4 days. Monday she woke up and said, ok we’re going to district meeting no matter what. I thought she was nuts cuz it’s an hour away in bus and the bus makes her nauseous and her sickness was that she was already nauseous, but she was determined so we went and the Elders gave her a blessing. Then we headed back to Cabrero and went to lunch. We had forgotten to tell the member that she was sick and I was freaking out thinking she’s going to eat this food and throw it all up after, but it seems like that blessing really did work and after we finished lunch I was thinking we’d be going home so she could recuperate, but she was like vamos chile! Basically she had an Elder Calhoun kind of enthusiasm, but this week should be a lot better I think.
