6 Months

Not to be trunky or anything, but on Wednesday I’ll be a 6 month old missionary. I can’t believe how the time has flown. I feel like just yesterday I was getting off the plane and hoping to get a latina trainer (That’s a common wish amongst the gringas.) I feel like I’ve worked hard, but haven’t accomplished nearly enough, it’s a good thing I’ve got another year to work.

So I had a piece of a filling break off and I went to the dentist today to see if I could fix it and she told me that it was a piece of excess filling stuff so it didn’t actually matter. I could see in her kind patient face that she was thinking “oh sheesh what a dunderhead.” Good news is that in Chile you don’t have to pay for the appointment and I didn’t have to get my tooth refilled. It was a little bit embarrassing, but that’s part of life right. Better safe than sorry.

Nelly and Jonny, our couple who’s supposed to get married some time in the near future so they can get baptized, didn’t come to church on sunday. I have half a mind to go slap them in the face, but it’s ok cuz I know they’ll get baptized someday, we’ll just have to set a new baptismal date AGAIN.
Leonardo our other investigator who’s been progressing left for Santiago and won’t be back until Christmas, which stinks cuz we can’t teach him for over a month, but he promised to read the book of mormon while he’s gone. We actually visited him the night before he left, and watched the restoration video that’s 20 minutes long. Sadly it ended up being in English, and his 4 year old son was running all over the place and screaming and his wife was giving us coca cola all while we were trying to translate it into spanish for him, but he’s amazing so he kept his eyes on the tv and was intent to watch a video about Joseph Smith. When we finished he told us that it gives the Book of Mormon a little more meaning to him. He showed us that he’d begun reading and got through the first few pages of testimonies of the witnesses. He then promised us that he would read the entire thing without us even inviting him to do so because he wanted to see if it’s true. We’re excited to see what happens and I swear that man is going to be a prophet someday. Satan was throwing every distraction he could at us during that lesson, but the spirit was miraculously still there and he listened intently. #momentsthatmakethemissionworthit
