Dear Family-
We went to a nice zone conference in Walla Walla Washington. I was so excited about going to walla walla. It looks just like Salt Lake City. The drive there was beautiful! I was in heaven; we took a road that goes along the Columbia River just about the whole way. aaahhhh 🙂
At zone conference I had to give my departing testimony, it was quite the experience.I thought it was kinda lame, because honestly I’m not a departing missionary. The thing that did make me feel old in the mission was that I knew all of the people that sent in their RM reports… Crazy stuff.
This week I have learned a ton. I know it is super boring to read when people get all preachy over email… but I might do it just a little.
I read over the talk give by Elder Corbridge called “the fourth Missionary.” to sum it all up it talks about how there are four different kinds of missionaries, two disobedient ones, and then the two obedient, the basic difference is where there heart and their desires are. I know that the only thing I want to be doing right now is being a missionary for the Lord, but I also know that I could be a lot better, and more focused. So I’ve decided to make little changes in what I do, and what I think to make sure that I give the lord my full heart, might, mind, and strength. Instead of just my might and strength some of my head and a portion of my heart. Here you go heavenly father, I’m yours.
I’ve learned a lot, and learned how much more that I really have to learn.. In my patriarchal blessing at one point it describes me with four words. I think ONE of the words usually applies to me, but the other three are probably not words I would use to describe myself. So let’s just say I’ve got some work ahead of me, I know that work is going to have to continue for the rest of eternity, but I figure I might as well get some of it underway while I’m here serving full time. 🙂
We have a part member family basically convinced to go to girls camp. The mom was baptized over ten years ago, but has little to no foundation of the gospel. Her twin daughters are radiant, and wonderful, but they really need support from their family before they can really get baptized. So at the end of our lesson we talked to them about girls camp. Hermana Burress said that she would be interested in going with her girls as a leader for camp. Of course I was ecstatic about that, because I know for myself, and many like me, places like girls camp are where testimony really begins. Bishop cleared it, and sister Lougee should be stopping by to invite them all and ask sister Burress to be a leader. I’m pumped.
We found a man the other week who didn’t seem very interested, but we stopped by, and he was asking us all kinds of questions, and was particularly interested in coming to church. We exchanged numbers, and are planning to meet with him Sunday.. because he works every day except for Sundays. His name is Laurencio. I’m a big fan.
There is a man right in front of me with his shirt buttoned up all the way to the top pink headphones, and a comb stuck in his beard… you know what I think? I bet he wants the gospel… 🙂
We also found out at zone conference that we aren’t supposed to write or email other missionaries in the mission, so I think I ‘m going to be watching a lot of mormon messages during email time. No more companion mail for me.
Speaking of mormon messages if you haven’t seen this video you NEED to watch it.
Have a great day!
love,
Hermana Holladay
