Hello Familia!
You will all be happy to see pictures from BAPTISMS!! So, I already told you about Edwin who is still awesome, and 11. I also think I’ve told you about Santiago before. When I was in Mesagrande Hna Falcon and I taught him the first 3 lessons, most of the commandments, and he got most of the way through 2 Nephi, but he would never commit to a date. Anyways, he finally committed to a date and he was baptized this weekend. Hna Lamb wasn’t feeling well so I went with Hna Tejada. It was really fun being back in Mesagrande, and really neat seeing someone else get baptized in that area. The work there is slow. Anyways, Hna Falcon told me that when Santiago was getting his confirmation blessing he was promised he’d get to bring members of his family into the church, and that he’d be able to help and be an example for his grand kids. He also received the Aronic priesthood and he’s really excited to do the work for his son that passed away. Before he told me that when he would read the scriptures he’d read 2 pages for himself and then 2 more for his son.
This week was really slow. We stayed in a lot because Hna Lamb’s arm was bothering her. We still don’t have very many investigators and we definitely need to find more. I hope that Easter Pageant will provide us with some golden referrals, because I’m not really sure what to do at this point. The members in Liahona 3rd are great but it’s clear that they feel a little overwhelmed with missionaries, and knocking doors has not been bringing much success.
I got a few pages for the vc scrapbook done which was nice. I’m glad I have that silly calling this transfer because it gave me something to do. Yeah, there’s a calling in the vc for ‘historian’ and you make scrapbook pages for the vc director and his wife. We did have a couple of really neat experiences though. A couple of new investigators Arturo and Rocio came to the visitor center and watched Gods Plan for His Family, and Ana came and watched JSPR. Ana cried through half the movie and afterwards she was telling us about how she knows the church is true. She’s so prepared it’s ridiculous. She’s planning on watching all of conference and she’s really excited about it.
What do you do for general conference in your mission?
We’ll probably watch it in the stake center with our investigator Ana.
Do you have any special things planned for Easter? Rachel, have you started the Easter program at the visitor’s center?
Nope. Just working.
Not yet, it starts this weekend and it’s gonna be crazy.
Have there been many opportunities for service since you’ve been out? (Like painting fences, or cleaning city parks)
Not really. People never let us do anything.
What’s your favorite part of a typical day? What’s your least favorite part?
Dinner is probably my favorite thing. My least favorite, planning, or knocking on doors.
What’s your favorite thing to do on a p-day and your least favorite thing?
My favorite thing on Pday is shopping. I really like going to Joann’s and looking at paper and stickers. My least favorite thing is trying to fit in cleaning the apartment, or washing my sheets, but I don’t really do that very often.
I love you all a lot. You should send me pictures from Elly’s birthday and stuff.
