Somethings you should all know about chile. They like to say po as a filler word of sorts so instead of saying si they would say si po, and they like to just end a lot of sentences with po. Of course that depends on the person for how much they do it. Some people say it a whole lot and others hardly ever. Completos are very important here. It’s kind of like a trademark Chilean thing. They are like hot dogs but a billion times better. Normally for a traditional Completo you have a very large bun with a hot dog and some tomatoes and guacamole in it and mayo on top. It’s pretty much the best.
Normally as missionaries we eat a small breakfast consisting of fruits and oatmeal, milo (Which is like hot chocolate kind of) other simple stuff like that. Hna. Steed created a thing that consists of Milo mixed with oatmeal in a cup. I like to call it oatmilo or milo soup depending on the amount of oatmeal inside. That’s one of my favorites for breakfast. Then lunch the members feed us. They normally feed us way too much and a lot of missionaries gain weight because of it so our nurse has been telling us to tell them to make us less food. They feed us all sorts of different things from mashed potatoes and beef to Chicken and rice or noodles with alfredo sauce and much more. I haven’t eaten anything too weird yet. We normally don’t eat dinner unless we happen to have an appointment with someone and they want to feed us once because the appointment is around that time. We bring snacks with us during the afternoon because of the lack of an evening meal.
Chile is very cold sometimes and kind of warm at other times. It’s super wet when it rains but I think I say that just because we’re out walking in it and we’re kind of soaked. It’s pretty adventurous.
Sunday we finally had our first investigator come to church. It was Millaray who I wrote about in an earlier email. She is very set on getting baptized and I almost feel like I don’t need to do much aside from teach her the basic doctrine cuz she just takes it and runs. It’s pretty great.
Our mission made a goal of reaching 50 baptisms for this cambio and we got all the way to 54 so chile concepción sur is the best! That reminds me. My second cambio starts tomorrow and me and Hna. Clark are staying together here in Santa Juana! Hnas. Steed and Aros are both training which sadly means that Hna. Aros has to leave us for another sector. We’re going to miss her a ton cuz she was our presiding Chilean who is super artsy and hilarious, but tomorrow we get to find out who Hna. Steed’s new companion is going to be. She’s kind of terrified because this is only her 4th cambio and she’s already training somebody, but it’ll be fun. She’ll be a great mama missionary and me and Hna. Clark will do our best to be good Aunts/Cousin. I don’t know if I explained this before so I’m going to now.
When you come to the mission your first companion is your mom and the other sisters in your house are your aunts. So Hna. Clark is my mom and Hna. Steed is my Aunt. But now that Hna. Steed is getting a daughter and I’m the other sister in the house I’m going to be the new sisters Aunt/cousin, so that will be fun.
