Holahola!
This week was a little crazy. Monday the 11th of September right after my last email our whole zone went to play paintball together. I gotta say I was a little nervous because it was my first time, but it was really fun and I did really well. I only got hit once and it was right at the end. somebody shot me in the hair. I say the hair because it literally didn’t touch me at all it just touched my hair and exploded leaving me a little bit blonder than normal. 🙂 Monday of this week was the 18th of September and everybody had the Chilean flag put up in their yards and we got to eat some barbeque with Fabiola and Yoan a recent convert couple and their son Benjamin. They are literally the cutest family and it was a ton of fun. They finished off our day by taking us to a small river where we threw rocks into a stream, ate some cookies (even though we were over stuffed), and explored an abandoned schoolhouse with a random painting of a creepy clown inside. It was pretty great.
Sadly the 18th is such a big holiday that it also meant that we had to return to the house at 6 every day Saturday through Tuesday, and Monday and Tuesday we couldn’t work at all because they were made into p-days because the people who are celebrating don’t want to hear the gospel. We spent the time cleaning and partying a little bit. Tuesday we had the Zone activity to use up the time that we couldn’t teach and we had a little challenge relay race thingamajig because I don’t  know what to call it. But there were various challenges that we had to complete and one of them was to drink a liter of milk. We did Elders against Hermanas and none of the hermanas wanted to do drink the liter of milk, so I sacrificed myself. It was rough but I did it. 🙂 (I’m strangely proud of the fact that I could down a liter of milk) I was only a little sick after, and I didn’t throw up! 🙂
Karen our investigator came to church for the third time this last sunday and she’s going to have her interview with Elder Burrows on Thursday and the baptism is scheduled for Saturday in the afternoon. (We don’t have an exact time cuz that day is a little crazy but we’re figuring it out) Sadly Harold did not come with Karen so this will only be a baptism for one, but we’re hoping that Harold will be inspired by his sisters baptism and get excited enough to have his own. We don’t have a lot of other news this week having to do with investigators.
Cambios are coming up this next week and it’s a little weird this time, cuz I pretty much already know what’s going to happen. Hna. Peña is finishing her mission this week, (which makes me really sad cuz she’s awesome and I’ll miss her a ton) and that means I’ll be getting a new companion and I’ll probably be staying in Santa Juana to direct the sector, but we’ll have to wait and see. It’s really rough to have to be the one to kill a companion (send them home). I feel kind of trunky (missing home) as well as sad and fearful for Hna. Peña because she’ll be entering the big bad scary world again as a normal person. It’s hard to explain, but the idea of not being a missionary is actually quite terrifying once you’ve gotten used to being one.
The scriptures help me so much every day! I’ve been trying to read them a ton, and it’s been interesting to see how they actually aren’t that hard to relate to.
