So we’ve got 7 new investigators this week! I’m excited to help them progress. We changed up how we use the whiteboard for planning starting a couple of weeks ago using a diagram that Hna. May drew of a staircase because we should have people on every single step. It’s been kind of cool to see the people moving up the steps. Of course we’re trying to focus on their personal needs as well not just teaching the lessons, but in order to do that we’ve been trying to always go in following the spirit. I’ve been learning a whole lot about the spirit the last week. Before I kind of thought of him as a feeling that I get when I do something good or when I testify to somebody about the truth. Then I realized that he’s actually a person. He’s one of our 4 best friends. He is so patient! I’m amazed that he still accompanies me not to mention the other people as well even though we’re kind of brainless sometimes and we don’t listen very well.
Temuco is a lot like lindon. Suburbs no mas. It’s not as advanced architecturally speaking. It’s kind of funny though. The mission uses 2g phones that look kind of like they’re from the later 90’s early 2000’s I think. (I didn’t have a phone back then so I’m not sure that that’s accurate. People here are used to a very fast lifestyle and they speak the way they think about 100 miles an hour. It’s kind of tough to adjust to that cuz lots of people here are very impatient and they get mad if you take too long to say something to them. I’ve been learning to contact people super fast using short but powerful phrases that the spirit can testify about.
Summer in Chile is super hot. The sun is closer and the ozone layer (I think?) is thinner so the sun burns really easy here. I’m not good about using sunscreen but luckily I didn’t burn much cuz I tend to just tan. My nose got a little red there at the end though. Now we’re entering autumn/winter. It’s getting colder and colder and it’s starting to rain more and more. I actually went and got some new rain boots today cuz my feet have been kind of wet. It’s kind of funny sometimes cuz we’ll be walking through the rain (tracting?) and people who see us or pass by will say don’t get wet. I never know how to respond it seems like such a weird thing to say to missionaries in a rainy area. Jaja! 😀
Here in Chile we wake up at 7:30 and do exercises for a half hour then we get an hour and a half to get ready and eat. at 9:30 we can start to work or do studies. It’s not usually effective to work in the morning unless we have appointments so we usually do studies at that time. Then we have lunch from 1:30 until 2:30 with members and we work thereafter until 10:00 unless we’re in an appointment and then we can stay out until 10:30. We go to bed at 11:00. So on a normal day without meetings and stuff we’re out tracting and teaching for about 8 hours unless we decide to not do our studies.
Also we have 2 investigators that are super great and I’d like to ask any of you who would be willing to pray for them. Their names are Caleb and Maxen. They’re Haitians that have been here in Chile for a few months they’re really great and Maxen has a baptismal date for the 28th and Calerbe doesn’t have a baptismal date but he has everything else, the lessons, a testimony, and a contrite spirit. The only issue is that he doesn’t feel comfortable getting baptised cuz he’s here all alone and he doesn’t want to do it without his family. We invited him to pray about it and ask what God thinks while being willing to do whatever God tells him.
