Wedding With a Bounce House

DULCE AND PASCUAL GOT MARRIED!

I feel like this is the first step in taking this area back from Satan. A little melodramatic… maybe, but this is my life.
Dulce, Hna Garcia, and Hna Ayala took care of everything for the wedding, and it was beautiful. I am really glad I got out of the way and let them do it. Dulce and Pascual were super excited. Right now I’m not sure when they’re going to be baptized, because with the wedding they really didn’t have time to meet with us, but if not this week it’ll be the next. A lot of the ward came which was nice, and the Alvarez family also showed up but they were just crashing to check out the local taco competition. Their restaurant is opening next month. They seem really happy unfortunately Edwin didn’t come. I also have to note how incredibly awkward it was being at a party for 2 and a half hours. We showed up right at the beginning because we knew Dulce was stressed about everyone being super late (which they were) and then they didn’t actually get married until about 8:30. While they were signing the license I placed a Book of Mormon with a friend that one of the members had brought.

The members have also been doing a really great job with fellowshipping Denya and Jaime, and while they’re still really far away from baptism I can see changes they’re making in their lives. Every time we go over the house is a little bit cleaner, and Denya is more and more open about how she needs to try and be more patient at home. We talked to her about how reading and praying will help her. Hopefully she’ll finally start.
We had a REALLY slow week. It’s mostly my fault because I was so frustrated with the ward that I didn’t really call members to come out with us. We did set up a lot of appointments with potentials for this week though, and it’s looking like things are gonna be pretty crazy. We have 6 appointments tomorrow :O hopefully we’ll be able to find members to do splits with us. If not, we’ll just have to do 20 minute lessons. I’m actually pretty good at doing short lessons, because I don’t know more than 15 minutes of Spanish. Jk.
Conference was a very much needed pick me up. I loved Elder Utchdorf’s talk. I felt really excited and ready to focused on what’s happening right now. Hna Noble, and I are excited for the Mormon message they’ll undoubtedly make from it. Something that really stood out to me was how much they talked about true conversion. That’s one of the things we talked about with Elder Bednar, and he actually covered a lot of the things he talked about with us in his conference talk. Just more and more I’m realizing how much we all need to be willing to act. Otherwise we just have testimonies instead of being truly converted.
We tried REALLY hard to get everyone to come to conference. The only investigator who showed up was Oswaldo… he’s not actually an investigator anymore because we’ve stopped visiting him. He’s awesome, he’s just hit a point where he needs to work things out on his own before we can help him more. He has a very worldly view of God and doesn’t really believe in sin. He also wasn’t sure about the Book of Mormon. While we were visiting him he wasn’t reading, but now that we’ve stopped coming over he’s read almost to 2 Nephi.
I can’t think of much to say this week. Hopefully I’ll get letters from you all today so I can write back.
Love ya,
Rachel
