Ready for the huge miracle for this week?
I don’t think you’re ready for this.
But I’m going to tell you because I’m running out of computer time.
So, last week our district leader asked us what he could do for us. We told him we’d like a training on how to baptize. We told him, we know how to have member presents, find people, do one minute lessons, ask inspired questions, and how to plan… lots of planning, but we don’t know how to baptize.
We showed up for district meeting/ our bitransfer interviews with president, and Elder Tanner delivered a list of things people need to do in order to be prepared for baptism. It was silly, and mostly all things from the front of our planners, but nevertheless a good reminder.
During my interview with president we talked about the problems I’ve been having with the ward council and how even though they’re not in the right I have to act like they are. Mostly I was just called to repentance and had to remember that even though I can make all these lessons happen, and I can convince people to listen to me I can’t convince anyone to do anything. They have to feel the spirit, and then decide they want to so, I might as well chill out and let God do His work.
Anyways, I had come to the conclusion that I just need to love Dulce and Pascual and let them decide for themselves when they want to be baptized. So, I was really patient when they cancelled our Tuesday appointment, and Hna Noble and I even decided to heart attack them the next day. Hna Noble had talked to president about Dulce and Pascual and he had told her they just didn’t understand the Doctrine of Christ. Apparently what he told her was something along the lines of ‘Ask them if they love Jesus Christ. Well, of course they do. Then they’re going to want to be baptized.” So, I spent most of my personal study choosing scriptures about love that we could put on their hearts. We ended up putting John 3:16, John 14:15, and Moroni 10:32. None of which specifically talk about baptism, because I didn’t want them to feel pressured.
Hna Noble and I were on splits when our next appointment with them rolled around. I had really carefully studied lesson 3 in preach my gospel, and I was feeling super nervous. Since I was feeling super nervous we spent more time then usual just small talking. Finally I asked if we could start and say a prayer. Dulce said the opening prayer after which I announced that we were going to be talking about the Doctrine of Christ today. Dulce asked if she could say something before we started. She said that the picture of Christ and the scriptures that we had left on her door had got her thinking, and that she knew she wanted to be baptized.
Miracle.
If all goes well her and Pascual will be getting baptized this Saturday.
