Freezing in AZ

Well, I am pretty sick today. Hna Noble is getting transferred out of the area. I’m getting a full field sister. Hna Watkins her dad is serving as a mission president in San Jose, California.  I am also going on bikes for the first time in my mission. I told Elder Nielsen (he’s in charge of cars and bikes) that there was no way I was buying a bike for 2 transfers. I also called him crying and recounted the story of the one day I spent on bikes in Valencia. He told me he’d find me a bike, make sure it fits me, and then teach me how to ride it.

So, and Sunday night (the night after transfer news) at 9:15 Elder Nielsen came over to our house with a couple of bikes. He told me that the bike wants to stay up, that it’s like a kaleidoscope, and that I have to make the bike fall over. Yeah, I went back to being 6 years old he ran along with me and the bike and everything. Hna Noble was really sad we didn’t have a camera. I was pretty grateful that night only has to live on in my memory, and this email. Anyways, it doesn’t look like even after crying, because I’m terrified of bikes, they’re going to let me keep my car. I figure God either wants to break my arm so that I can make it home in time for school in January, or He’s trying to help me lose the 10lbs I’ve gained before I go home and have to try and date people again.
So, I can’t really remember all the things that happened this week because it was pretty crazy and it feels like I heard about Hannah’s mission forever and a day ago. Here’s some random bullet points of  events.
  • Temple trip with the zone.
  • $.99 tacos that came with sodas in glass bottles
  • 4 sisters went home from the vc. Sis Anderson, Hna Falcon, Sis Burton, and Sis Parker.
  • We have Dulce and Pascual a rad photo collage.
  • We bullied a guy named Ramon, who reminds me of grandpa, into going to see the Joesph Smith movie at the vc. Here are Hna Noble’s words on the subject,”  It was really funny one night cause there’s this older guy who’s super sweet, a grandfatherly figure, who always promises to meet with us and never delivers. And he had the excuse last time that he couldn’t come to the Visitors Center bc his son had his car. So then we were like, that’s OK, we can wait. Haha, so we went and grabbed our cell phone and called our ward mission leader to give him a ride, and after, Hermana Holladay, just went and plopped down in a seat on the porch in the row of Hispanic guys sitting there. Just one of the guys. Ha ha, and then she just kinda looked at them and was like, “Como estan?” it was so funny. It made them all like us a lot more. I’m looking forward to future encounters. :)”
  • We thought we were freezing to death when it got down to 60 degrees, but we just walked around at night anyways. It was kind of funny actually because we never have much success on Saturdays (because everyone is out drinking) and this Saturday was no different, plus it was really “cold,” but we managed to have a grand time anyways. I even pushed Hna Noble off the curb and she didn’t get mad.
  • Lots of good food this week.
Anyways, congrats to Hannah on the mission call. Hope everyone else is doing well. I was going to try and write letters today… hopefully I’ll feel up to it. I’m sad to be losing Hna Noble, but I know it’s time for her to be senior comp. Most fun transfers I have had yet, I must admit.  A little bitter sweet to see them end.
Love you,
Rachel
