Questions:
Have you gotten your Valentine’s packages?
YES!! Thanks so much for the camera! And also for the peeps. I put scriptures about love on all the Valentines and put them in all the sister’s cubbies in the vc. Sister Falcon also told me to tell you, “Thank you very much.” She was very grateful for the card 🙂
I was wondering what Valentine’s day would be like on the mission, especially because it was supposed to be my P-day, and they planned a mission wide meeting from 8:30-1:00 pm. The meeting ended up being watching 17 Miracles and eating lasagna. After which instead of being productive like I’d been planning on, I slept for 3 hours. So lazy. So good. Annd Sis Falcon gave me a box with Hello Kitty post-it’s, stickers, and pen. Woot! I was not organized enough to have planned anything for her… Ha, and she had to use the help of my mission “family”. Here is a quick explanation of the mission fam; your trainer is your mom, anyone else trained by your trainer is your sister, your trainer’s trainer is your grandma, and anyone trained by your grandma is your aunt. I have a pretty small mission fam, just me, Sis Fors, Sis Solorzano, and Sis Tejada. If you noticed lots of pictures of me with a little Latin sister, it’s because she’s my Abuelita. Anywho, my Tia and my Abuelita are back together again, and did the bought my present for Sis Falcon since we haven’t had time to go to the store this week. Rants…
Are all of the missionaries in your missions about the same age, or is there a variety of ages among the young men and young women who are serving?
I think the oldest Elder I’ve met in Mesa is 22? All the Elders are about the same age, but it varies more between the sisters. My comp now is 26, and a chemical engineer, where as Sis Fors was just 21 and still not done with school. So… yeah. More variety.
What’s your favorite color?
Orange.
What phrase do you use most when your speaking Spanish?
“Pues…” y “Cosas como asi”
What type of music are you allowed to listen to in your specific mission?
Just the white handbook guidelines. So anything that doesn’t distract from the spirit or have romantic overtones. Sister Fors and I always just listened to MoTab, Jon (what’s his face, the piano playing one), and the best of Peter Breinholt. Now that I’m with Sis Falcon I have to listen to EFY cds, but it’s ok because it’s only when we’re in the car.
Hmm, I’m trying to think of what to say about this week. It went really fast. We found 5 new investigators, included in which is a family 🙂 Oh! Here’s the funny story for the week. So like I told you, we always eat dinner with the members, and last night we were eating dinner with the Hernandez family (taco’s de pastore, Sis Falcon’s favorite, only apparently they’re not the same here as in Mexico City) when we get a call from one of the ladies in the ward Hna Hurtado saying, “Where are you? Guadalupe is waiting for you! She made you dinner.” And I’m on the phone like “… what?” which usually happens because I don’t understand the Spanish, but it wasn’t that this time. Guadalupe is our investigator who’s bf was deported, and she’s been coming to church, but we were considering dropping her because she’s been dropping appointments and we know she’s not going to want to get baptized until David gets back. Anywho, we rushed through dinner rushed over to her house and ate a second dinner. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but Mexicans make a lot of food. When I first got to Arizona I could not finish a meal. Last night, with the help of much prayer, I ate not 1, but 2 full Mexican dinners!
It’s a miracle that I haven’t gained a ton of weight.
