Elder Ballard

Hi my Sweet Family-

Well another week. Lemme tell you, things are going. I want to take a moment and thank all those of you who wrote me and James for sending me that CD. I’m getting good use out of it. Thanks mom for accepting the challenge, and also for giving us one. We are working on it.

Elder Ballard came. It was amazing. He’s so funny and sassy in real life. I got to shake his hand and he said my name. So I’m basically set to die happy now. He told us to talk to more people. He said to work with the members and when they give you referrals to treat it like mana from heaven, but work like you’re the only one going to work and find. I think that was good for me to hear, I’ve probably been relying too much on others. But no more! even though we will obviously keep working with the members.

I got to see all the old comps and friends in the mission ! it was so stinking awesome. I just love all these missionaries. I took a picture with the old MTC district and all of my companions (except for Hermana Ramos who got stuck in the Vancouver mission.) 🙂

My back hurts worse every day.

This lady basically referred herself to the gospel yesterday. She called her sister who joined the church in highschool and then went on a mission. She told her that she wanted to raise her kids the way she had, and that she wanted to talk to the missionaries. So it was an amazing miracle, and I am so happy.

I have to tell you a short story of this amazing family. They are the Safrans a part member family. John is the husband and his two kids aren’t members, then there is Tanya and her three boys are all members two are away serving in the marines. I know them all though. They have a family friend who they tried to get involved in the gospel, they have problems with drugs and they have a really broken marriage. Anyways they have three little boys Lyric-6 king-Daniel-5  and Omari-3 then their cousin who is 2 and named tony. The Safrans took them in so they wouldn’t have to go into foster care, and they will probably end up with them for a long time. Tony they will almost certainly adopt. Their youngest kid is 17. They’re amazing. We have been getting clothing together for the boys and sending it to them. They’re so grateful and just so amazing. The night they found out they had set up dinner with us, and they still fed us..

The work is going well, I love everyday that I get to be a missionary, even when it’s hard. It’s an amazing opportunity.

Mom’s questions:

Can you send us some pictures?
Yes.
Do you still eat with members in Warden?  If so, who is the best cook in the area?
My favorite is the Safrans family. I’m not sure if it’s the food or just because I love them so so much.
Are there many trees there? or is it kind of flat and treeless?
flat and treeless.. we had a huge wind storm today and it looks like we are in the sahara. I could barely see to drive and i used three tissues to clean the dirt out of my ears.

How did you like Bekah’s cartoon of your brick wall?

I laughed really hard! (also thanks for the stickers bekah).

LOVE YOU!
Hermana Holladay
