I like how dramatic Rebekah is about going home when I have less time left than she does. I’m honestly hoping I can see at least one more baptism before I go home. As soon as Christmas lights starts I’m only going to have around 3 hours in my area every day. The rest of my time is going to be studying, eating, and the visitors center. Hna Watkins is full field so we haven’t been in the visitor center since transfer day but we go back on Thanksgiving the day Christmas Lights start.
Sorry that Pdays seem to put Rebekah and me in such a bad mood. I am mostly stressed because I have no idea how we’re going to get groceries today, and my head really hurts for the first time in a while.
Well things are good. Bikes make it so it takes forever and a half to go places, but we still had a pretty good amount of lessons so, I guess it’s OK.
We started teaching a less active’s son, Eric. He’s only 13 but he’s great. He wanted to get baptized 2 years ago when his dad did, but for some reason it didn’t happen. He still wants to, and I really hope that this time we can help him to get there. The problem is that his mom has about a million excuses not to do the things she should, and she keeps saying that Eric can’t get baptized until he’s really ready. The only reason he won’t be ready is because she’s pretty actively road blocking this family’s progress. His dad is a really great guy, but he works ALL the time. We talked to Carlos (the dad) a lot about faith, and how if he’s looking for a new job so that he can come to church on Sunday God will help him to find it.
Anyways, it was a huge miracle when we had our second appointment with Eric. It took us 2 hours to get to the appointment. The appointment was for 6:30 but we couldn’t find a ride from our dinner appointment, and I didn’t want to ride on the busy streets at night so, we were walking our bikes. At about 6:35 we called Eric’s mom to change the appointment to 7, but she said that 8 would be better so, we continued on. When we finally got to where it was safe for me to bike again. Hna Watkins saw that her back tire was completely flat. Luckily this happened in front of a member’s house. They tried to help us out with the bike tire but when that didn’t work out they gave us a ride to the appointment. We got there at 8:01.
Every day has more or less been like that, but when we finally get where we’re going there’s someone there ready to listen to our message so, I guess it’s OK.
This weekend we had a Gran Kermes or fundraiser for a recent convert in the ward. She broke her hand a while back and needs surgery, but doesn’t have the money to get it done. We had a food sale in front of the ward mission leader’s house from 11 am -7 pm on Saturday. Hna Watkins and I spent a lot of time helping out with it in the morning, and we also helped clean up at the end. This provided us with leftover cake and cookies that we’ve been living off of the past couple of days.
You should all be proud to hear I have not fallen off of my bike once, but I also have not ridden it very much because Hermana Watkins’ tires don’t like holding air so, lots of walking and begging for rides for us.
Loove you,
Rachel
p.s. found a ride for groceries all is well
