Adventures of the Holladay family…
The latest on what is happening with our missionaries.
So, this week I will hit the one year mark. Crazy, isn’t it? Yeah, my personal grooming standards, that weren’t very high to begin with, have lowered even further while being on a mission. My hair hasn’t been cut in over 4 transfers, but I’m going to try to get it done today… we’ll see. It also means it’s been a year since I… did lots of things.
Today I am really cranky, because someone made a comment on my Spanish and it hurt my feelings. So, this is probably going to be short. There were some miracles this week. My favorite one is that Luis bore his testimony in Sacrament meeting yesterday. He’s getting baptized this Saturday and I’m pretty stoked. I haven’t had very many baptisms on my mission, but I feel like the people I have been able to help teach have really great testimonies, and it’s a huge blessing. I worry about Ana I still don’t really know what happened to her. Last I heard she was in Venezuela, but I don’t even know why she ended up being deported. 🙁 I wish I had more time to figure it out.
Things have been slowing down–and that is BAD. We need to keep up. Sister Duarte was telling me about how in her ward one time there were 40 baptisms in one month. Because there were ward missionaries helping with the teaching and the entire ward was involved. Wow. 40. Sister Duarte said on the day of all the baptisms, one of the sisters fainted when the 25th person was baptized. Yeah. I would faint too. I would probably faint several times before the baptisms too. But it just goes to show miracles are possible, and really… every member is a missionary. If everyone would get involved the second coming would probably come a lot, a lot faster… Continue reading “Reloco”
Hello dearly beloved seres queridos,
To answer Dad’s questions about my comp, she is from Honduras (like Hna Estrada, but she comes from a part of Honduras that is actually A LOT like the United States) I believe she now has 14 months in the mission (two transfers more than me) so she only has about 3 or 4 transfers left. I always work with old missionaries. It’s kind of weird because usually the sisters get to be senior comp after 6 or 8 months or something, but I’ve gotten to work with a lot of sisters who have a lot of experience. It’s kind of nice because they all already know more than me… She loves to joke around and bug me. She wants to be a professional forensic doctor and solve crimes like that. She has quickly converted to Sweet and Sour Chicken since she’s been with me, and she can almost say it in English now.

I am going to try really hard to remember the things that happened this week.
*We were praying that Luis would be willing to move his baptismal date up so, he pushed it back. 🙁 Continue reading “Hello Family”
