This week was a little bit nuts. Me and Hna. Clark finished our p-day and had a family home evening lesson with our investigators then returned to the house. At the house Presidente May called us and told us that we were going to have an emergency cambio. Hna. Clark is now in Curanilawei and My new companion/ trainer for the last 2 weeks of this cambio is Hna. Peña who is super sweet and smart. I’ve already learned a ton from her and feel like we were best friends in the pre-existence. Sadly her last cambio is the next so we’ll probably stay together for about 8 weeks and I will have to kill my missionary father. 🙁 It’s all a little crazy. On top of that we haven’t been able to get a single person to accept a baptismal date or be a new investigator. So number wise we have pure zeros and spiritually speaking Santa Juana is rejecting the blessings of the gospel. But we’ll continue forward and hope to find the people who are ready and slightly hidden, with the help of the Lord all things are possible.
Hna. Peña is a Chilena from Santiago and therefore my Spanish is improving a lot and it’s really hard to write in English so if a word or two is in spanish I apologize I didn’t do it on purpose. It’s kind of cool because she only has 2 months left and I only have 3 months down so I feel kind of like a sponge soaking up all of her knowledge but I’m running out of space. haha. On Sunday I had my first talk in church since I left and I forgot until Hno. Octavio was announcing that we would be having the talks and that Hna. Holladay would be first. So I went up and bore my testimony about the Sacrament cuz that was what they told me the week previous and then went off on a tangent hopefully following the spirit and shared my favorite scripture in Matthew 5:14-16. I also at one point mentioned how great it is that we can repent of our mistakes because I mistakenly forgot my talk until it was time to give it and they all got a good laugh at least, but everyone told me it was a good talk anyway. ;3 I have repented and in the future I’m going to prepare for my talk the day it gets assigned and try to have backups ready just incase I don’t get time because I’ve heard that that happens as well. Love you all and please remember to not procrastinate but be punctual in life because I now know from experience that when you don’t it’s really embarrassing.
Questions:
What time you get up, and when do you start proselyting? We get up at 7 o’clock and start proselyting usually after lunch at about 3 o’clock because we usually do studies and have meetings in the morning because nobody is awake or ready for appointments at that time.
When do you have to be back in your apartment? We have to be back in the apartment by 9:30 unless we are in an appointment then we can be out until 10.
What flavors of soda do they have there? They have sprite and fanta orange and some other kinds I haven’t tried as well as the caffeinated classics like coke and dr. pepper.
Is there any unique soft drink that people like? They have a brand that’s called Pap but it’s pronounced Pop like soda pop, I haven’t tried it but all the stores sell it. People really like to drink fruit juices from the store. So fake stuff but delicious.
Favorite treat in Chile? Does lemon meringue pie count? If not I really like bon o bon’s and super 8’s.
What do you most look forward to each day? If we have Family home evenings the games and treats, as well as lunches with the members. 🙂 So basically food.
What you would do if you had 1 more hour in a day? I would sleep cuz I’m always tired.
Are there lots of bugs there? Not really. There are flees but I haven’t gotten bit yet. We’re now avoiding that a lot because Hna. Peña is hardcore allergic to bites from bugs.
Do things get musty and moldy smelling because of all of the moisture? Not really we just keep stuff ventilated. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this yet but we had only a washer until a week ago and our stuff took about a week to dry at the very least but now we have a dryer and we have to stick the tube out the window so that the moisture doesn’t get trapped in the house and cause problems.
