First of all, I want you to know I put all your letters in a big purple binder in order. Ya.. It’s pretty awesome. Now on to the important things, missionary work.
Life in Warden has picked up the pace a lot more, and we actually have a couple things going. I can honestly say I’m so thankful to my heavenly father, I was starting to go a little more coo-coo than normal. This week has brought a lot of neat experiences. So the only mangster we really have left standing is Carlos. He wouldn’t let us know where he lived, and anyways one night with just three minutes to spare we decided to try a house nearest to a field we found him trumping out of a couple weeks back. Lo and behold, we found the mangster’s hide out, who needs a last name, address, or phone number when you have the holy spirit? Ya, not these missionaries! ( Carlos also came to church)
One of the exciting happenings that went on occurred Friday during our usual study block. It was language study and like the good missionaries we are, I just had my blouse put on with my sweat pants and Hermana Croft had her night shirt with her skirt, when we heard a knock at the door. We usually don’t have knocks at the door.. so we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off for a minute or so, and then just ended up at the door as we were. Anyways, the Jehovah’s witnesses were out. They proceeded to tell us that the wicked would be destroyed, and asked us a couple loaded questions. When they asked when a good time for them to come back out, we told them we were also missionaries… Then they took a couple implied jabs at the mormons, and left in her slinky black dress and high heels. well.. now we know how it feels to get door approached. Yikes.
Theeennnn we went out to grab the mail, and we heard a dog crying in such a way I have never before heard. It was literally stuck off the top of this fence I assume it tried to jump over… ya it was horrifying.. so of course we start sprinting towards it in our half dressed missionary get ups… right as we get there this kid strides out of the house and grabs the dog. We then explained how we were running to his rescue. Later he was mowing our lawn (turns out it was our landlord’s son).
To answer mom’s question about less actives. We are working with this family named the Rigby’s. The husband Trent has been a member his whole life, but has really strayed of the path. Terah his wife got baptized like 8 months ago and as she puts it “is trying to convert” trent. They have two sons that are literally never in clothing, and are always filthy. Terah is 24 yrs old, and she’s pretty fun.
Then we have a lot of others… A lot… I already told you about Tito. Then we have a couple part member families. Like the Garzas. They just have one kid baptized, they would all be, but they can’t afford to get married because the wife has diabetes and the gov. pays for it as long as she isn’t married, otherwise it would eat half of their income. Kati is 14 and has no interest in religion but her parents really really want her to be a part of it all. Her Dad told us that if she didn’t go to church every week she would be grounded for a year. yeup… awesome…
Well to answer Bek’s question about baptisms that I sort of forgot about, I have four.
1. Gary.. like two days after I got here. his wife was less active for 14 yrs and they went through like 10 sets of missionaries. They are now progressing like crazy and will be to the temple in less than a yr.
2. Jose: the man, going to get married to Becca next may in the temple. The most active mexican in the branch, including the branch president.
3. Ana: 14 yrs old and in love with the gospel. Just went and did baptisms for the first time, and loves the youth.
4. Randy: 20 yrs old and just told hna Robison that he has been heavily considering a mission. He is also shortly going to be baptizing his dad.
THEY’RE THE GREATEST.
well, that’s all for now.
Love,
Hannah
