Liven la Vida Loca

Holahola!

This week was not the most exciting, but I have a few things to tell you guys about. Friday of the last week I think, I don’t remember for sure, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t tell you guys about it, we had a mission activity for the whole branch, and we invited everybody to bring a food with an ingredient from the earth. We then had a competition with judges who decided which was the best, but here comes the best (spiritual) part.

We had everybody write something of great importance like advice or a note they would give to their family if they were to die in 5 minutes on a piece of paper. We then had everybody go to the backyard of the church (It’s a house) and we took all of the papers they wrote on and put them in the fire we made in the back without letting anybody read what had been written. Pretty much all of them had mouths open with a look of incredulous disbelief shock and pain. (Poor Millaray had put a lot of effort into hers and it took up the front and back of a piece of paper) We had just burned something that meant a lot to them and was meant for their descendents and family without ever allowing it to be used for it’s intended purpose. So of course they were all upset. We then told them about the greatest fruits of the Earth that was found by a Young man by the name of Joseph Smith. The plates that were then translated by him and we all know to be the book of mormon had been written by the people of the ancient americas and when they wrote it they were thinking of us. They were writing it for our benefit because we are their descendents whether it be directly or by adoption, and they spent hundreds and hundreds of years writing those scriptures to help us. Imagine how Moroni or Mormon probably feel when we don’t take advantage of the one thing they worked so hard to give us, probably it would be about the same as how the members felt when we burnt their papers. We then invited them to read the book of mormon and the bible which are both great opportunities to learn and grow from the knowledge of our ancestors and predecessors. I’d like to invite all of you to do the same thing. 🙂
Something fun… 2 days ago we celebrated the 8th of September with the branch (It’s the independance day of chile, so “It’s like the 4th of July on Steroids” (President May Chile Concepcion sur)) They gave us way too much food and I ended the day with my belly way overfull, but we got to play a lot of fun games including gallito (Arm wrestling) and we got to watch some of the members dance the cueca which is the traditional dance of Chile and it’s super Cool.
Also this week we recommited Karen to baptism and the date is set for the 23 of September which will be the last Saturday as a missionary for Hna. Peña so that will be awesome. Karen now has 2 attendances along with her brother Harold, but he still hasn’t received his answer if he should get baptised (Not sure if he’s prayed yet). We’ll see if we can help him get to that date as well.
Stay Forever Strong 🙂
