Greetings Everybody,
Well another week come and gone. It was another lengthy one to say the least.
Every week things just seem to be blurrier and blurrier.
President Ware came to do interviews, I guess we can start there. He came and started out with “you have all felt my love at one time or another…” anyways it wasn’t very pretty. He sort of just destroyed us all with his words. Then each interview took AT LEAST 15 minutes. My companion and I had to do our interviews at the end, so we were there ALL DAY. Honestly I don’t think we left until six. Then when it came time for our interviews hna Larson got pulled in and then he said, “you know what Hermana Holladay, Elder Lee, Elder Cantrell come in here too.” So we went in and had a meeting that lasted about an hr in place of having an actual interview with him. Dang! I wanted an interview.
A summary of all that we were told into a couple of basic points:
1. We don’t get enough OYMs. We have to be getting at least 10 a day.
2. We waste time.
3. We do too much less active work.
4. We don’t find enough.
5. Our zone has tons of issues.
So there we have it. Anyways, we bucked up after a little mini pity party, and realized that everything he said was right, and we went to work. We OYMed 64 people this week (waaaay more than I ever have) and found 7 new investigators.
One of our new investigators is named Sonya, she is absolutely amazing. She lives in a tiny trailer with her four kids and husband. She’s Mexican but doesn’t speak any Spanish. She has real intent like I have almost never seen before. She absolutely loved the fact that Joseph Smith was 14 yrs old and just a regular person. She said she would start reading and praying. I know that she will. The only down side, she’s about to move. Anyone we find who we have a super awesome experience with decides to up and move. It’s fine because there are missionaries everywhere, but it sort of makes our finding efforts feel a little fruitless. Selfish I know. But we have really high hopes for her and her family.
I had exchanges this week with one of the most interesting people I’ve ever been with. Honestly, most people don’t seem to be too incredibly found of her, but I think she’s awesome. She is super logical, and really knows the gospel. I got to take her around my area, the only thing is she isn’t a Spanish speaking missionary. SO she said the following “somas missionerias de las igleshia da las santos da las ultimas dias.” That was as good as we could get it.. she was so willing to put herself out their and try. It was a fun day, and really interesting.
We have two more exchanges this week, and then one next week, because like I said before, this zone is really struggling. We are getting a new elder today, because one of our Elders got sent home (at least we think). Things have been crazy, but I think it will all work out.
Hna Larson and I have been having lots of fun together, we have found some incredible people, and had some super weird experiences finding.
Last night we met this girl who was absolutely the craziest person I have ever talked to. Honestly my heart broke into a million pieces for her. She realizes that she needs a lot of help, but she feels as though Christ has abandoned her. We gave her a Book of Mormon, explained the atonement, invited her to do everything we could think of, all standing at the door step. I just wish people could believe that the atonement works for EVERYONE not just until you have gotten to this point or that. It is all encompassing.
Anyways this probably isn’t very exciting. I’m pumped to be here and to do the work. Thank you for all your prayers. I love you all 🙂 I’m your biggest fan.
Love,
Hermana Holladay
