It was a really good week. I’m super tired and I just spent a good chunk of my email time chatting with Hna Schwartz about people in Valencia and Mesa Grande. It will be nice to be able to keep in touch with recent converts better at home.
Is there anything you need that we could help with?
Nope. I sent some stuff home with Sis Kranendonk’s parents. Did it make it?
With fast Sunday approaching, is there anyone in particular you would like us to focus our fast on?
Probably Dulce and Pascual.
How many different areas have you served in?
4
How are the older converts doing?
Not sure. Santiago came to Christmas lights, and seems to be doing well. Julio is totally inactive… Carmen is the compassionate service coordinator in Valencia. I think Luis needs to find a nice girl. From what I hear Ana is still on fire, and Edwin’s family is doing really well. I have no idea about the first Ana. She’s still in Venezuela. Dulce and Pascual haven’t come to church for a couple of weeks. 🙁
Is there anything you wish you had taken with you on your mission that you did not?
Not really. I just buy things when I need them.
What thing(s) have you been the most grateful that you did bring?
Socks.
Argh, too much has happened and I’m sooo lazy. I also forgot to bring my journal again.
On Friday we had a ward activity about missionary work. We did a missionary obstacle course race. People had to do things like find scriptures then ride tiny bikes while the primary kids threw things at them, and then eat tons of rice at a fake dinner appointment. That was the silly part, but we also did some serious things. We set up a TRC sort of thing where the members could practice discovering investigators’ needs, had them write testimonies for the missionaries to put inside Books of Mormon, and write notes and cards for the less active members in the ward. We were really hoping to excite the members about missionary work, and I think the ones that came really loved it. The problem was that not very many people came.
Agustin’s baptism was great. One of his friends came, and one of our investigators. People came even though we had to do it in the stake center, and Agustin seems really happy. I think he’ll be great for the ward because he’s so accepting of everyone.
We struggled with finding this week, but on Sunday we had a miracle and were able to get into a door of some formers. I’d been trying to visit these formers on and off the whole time I’ve been in this area, and they’ve never really shown any interest. We decided to try them again, and they let us in because they remembered Hna Cottrell.
