Hey family-
I’m officially in my last transfer. We got transfer calls, and Hermana Correa and I are staying here in Umatilla… or are we?
Saturday night I was talking to President Ware on the phone, just about everything that’s been happening in life etc. etc. and he decided he and Sister Ware were going to come down to Umatilla to hang out with us, and then we were going to talk more after the block.
To make a long story short, Hermana Correa and I might be getting transferred together, but we won’t find out for sure until tonight. He said, “I’m going to go home with a prayer in my heart, and kneel down first thing, talk to some people tomorrow, and then I will let you know.” Sooo… now we wait.
It feels good to know that whatever happens is in the hands of the Lord. I don’t have to be stressed about what is going on, I just get to trust that he is going to make sure everything works out. That’s the beauty about being a missionary; everywhere you go, everyone you are with is because the Lord wants you there with that person. That’s comforting to know.
Not a ton to report from the last week. We are trying our best to find people who are ready to accept the gospel and willing to progress. It’s the work of salvation, and let’s be real, it’s not easy, but it is oh so good.
Umatilla is a bizarre place with a lot of bizarre people and things . Driving over here we saw a man and a woman walking by, and the man had his belly sticking out of his shirt.. just walking around. I feel like the wind blows hard enough here you would be able to feel that.
The ward is like the people you would read in some of Robert Ferrell Smith’s books. The Lougee’s compare it a lot to the book “Trust in Thelma’s way.” We talked about how long you have to live in one of these places until you become one of them… I’m still not sure.
Another thing, the Lougee’s are going to be in Utah on the weekend of the 24th of July, so is everyone down with them coming by? Dad and brother Lougee need to meet each other.. they will have a lot in common.
I don’t know what to say. I will let you know where I am next week. Wherever we are the work is going to explode. So get ready.
I love you all,
Hermana Holladay
