Hello world-
So this may be a short one once again, because email was weirdly interrupted today by a minor emergency. Let’s just say, people can be crazy. We met (once again) a lady who was in some pretty big turmoil in her life. We did what we could to help here, and here we are.
Hermana Porter emailed me a few days ago to tell me that she is going home. I’m not sure when she will be, but her companion Hermana Ahlstrum will be moving up to Moses Lake to serve with Hermana Larson and Pierce. It’s her anxiety.. I’m really sad for her, and just keeping her in my prayers like crazy.
This week has been a good one. We found a couple really cool investigators. They were both making all these connections on their own. We did our best to teach, and boom the spirit takes over. I love that.
Jorge still hasn’t quit smoking, but we gave him cinnamon sticks to use for the hand to mouth, and it is also supposed to make the smoke taste horrific. He says that it has been helping. Sometimes I just want to throw all the drugs/cigarettes/alcohol in the ocean. It’ll be like the Boston Tea Party. I HATE DRUGS!!!! (the bad ones)
Luis is awesome, and he has been reading his scriptures all the time, and he is always there for his appointments, and he is just a sweet little angel. The only problem is he feels he doesn’t know enough to be baptized, and admittedly he doesn’t yet, but he will.
There is this lady in the ward, and she has been put through absolutely everything hard you can imagine. She has literally lost everything in her life. In fact the ward sometimes refers to her as “sister Job.” She’s an angel. She told us her conversion story yesterday and about how she found her guardian angels when she was eight years old living in an abusive situation. (the elders) Then about 30 years later, after she already knew that the church was true she found her guardian angels again. She then for the last 9 years of being a member has been put through SO MUCH. I can’t even express how hard she has it. She has never left the church, and never gone back, because she knows what god expects of her. She’s truly an inspiration.
Lemme tell ya the story of Estela. Once upon a time, back in my days in Basin City Hermana Robison and I were having an incredibly rough time. I made up a story about this amazing investigator who without us doing anything really more than finding her, would just be ready for the gospel. Her name would be Estela. And since that point I have been searching for this Estela. One day Hermana Jackson and I were tracting when we met a lady, and before we said anythings she asked us where our church was and when it started, and that she wanted to go to church. By the end of the conversation I finally thought to ask for her name (DUH) and it was Estela. My jaw dropped to the floor and my eyes bulged out. Miracles happen.
Things are good. I love you all! I hope you are all doing well.
Love, Hermana Holladay
