Everybody-
So to quickly explain the title of my email. We had an experience yesterday with someone from the Pentecostal Church and the lesson went on pretty well until we asked her to say the prayer. She decided to delight us with the “gift of tongues.” It went on for AT LEAST ten minutes. Sister Roylance and Hermana Porter were both trying not to laugh, I was just plum annoyed by it. Then she started clapping her hands and swaying and then I saw the humor in it.
This week on Friday with the wind chill the temp was -25. I have never wanted to be dead so much on my mission before. I had hives everywhere! BUT it’s much betta now.
Hullabaloo is a word I found in the dictionary and found it humorous.
This amazing baptism for the Hermanas in Royal happened on Saturday. A guy named Daniel was baptized. I have had the privilege of teaching him a couple of times on exchanges, and I must say he has come a long way. The first lesson I taught with him and Hermana Hatfield was SO frustrating, because he knew it all, he just was not willing to act on it. At his baptism I was talking to him about that and he just said simply “God changes hearts.” We went with Rosi and her husband and two younger boys. Rosi kept saying “when I get baptized…” and we talked about how you could really feel the spirit. Mikey the 12 yr old also said, “mom, when I get baptized are you going to pick who baptizes me, or can I?”
Rosie’s husband also came to church on Sunday and she says he is planning to continue attending with them. We had a really rough lesson in relief society. Basically it was a brag about how we are better than everyone and bash everyone’s religion. I felt so sick to my stomach. We then went to teach for a minute in YWs and came back and Rosie was gone. All day I was so worried about her because I thought she would be offended. We texted her and she didn’t text back. Rosie ALWAYS texts back. Towards the end of the night we just sent, “Rosie, How are you feeling today?” and she said, “Very good, I haven’t felt this together as a family for a long time. This is how I want it now and forever. I believe God has a plan for us and I want to do it right. and I believe that it is true.” I could almost cry with joy. Why do I even worry?
We have our big Christmas conference this week, so we are all really excited for that. We are also going to do white elephant as a district (we bought some delightful things for that) and then we have transfer calls on Saturday. Wish me luck!
I’ll be sending a lovely Christmas card this week. I was going to give you a sneak peak on email, but once again my computer refuses to cooperate.
I love you all, and thank you for the prayers,
Hermana Holladay
Questions
Tell me when your package arrives please?
I haven’t gotten the mail yet today.
Do you get much snow in Warden, or is it just cold?
Just freezing cold.
We googled your address and it looks like you are out in the middle of no where. Is that true? Are you right in the middle of a bunch of fields?
Yes.. I definitely live in the middle of fields for miles. Warden is the same as basin city except it has a random little town a few miles away from us.
Please give us updates on Lucy and Rosi.
Lucy we kind of passed on to Kennewick because she is down there to help her mom for a while. But we still text her a little and she is going to church and being a champ.
