The “one”

Sweet family-

Well it was interesting to hear about what happened with James last week. Way to be a noob and not go to the doctor until you appendix had ruptured. But thanks for the letter maybe I’ll write you all letters this week or next week.

So things have been interesting. I wasn’t feel up to life for a couple days… but then I worked really hard to get over it, and then life turned around. So we went to zone conference which was pretty enjoyable and we are now doing member lessons as a key indicator.

We, as a companionship, printed off Elder Ballards quote from conference about the “one.”

“We are not asking everyone to do everything. We are simply asking all members to pray, knowing that if every member, young and old, will reach out to just “one” between now and Christmas, millions will feel the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. And what a wonderful gift to the Savior.”-Elder Ballard

so I encourage you as my family to seek out the one, and then to return and report. I wanna know what crazy miracles happen from each of you. Yes that includes you Matt and Elly. Will  you Holladay family accept the challenge to reach out to the one?

Well anyways we got this crazy miracle text this week that said the following: “Hi my name is Peggy. Mike Leavitt gave me your phone number. I want to join the church. I’ll be home at two. Thank you.” Yep… I almost cried with joy. and everyone was like “oh man it’s just the lord blessing you for all the work..” Ya… she fled during church and we never even got to teach her. Ouch.

Then we got a call from President Ware.. Getting a call from president Ware is never a good thing. I said that, then we freaked out and listened to the message. It was for Hermana Porter we called him back and he told us that her grandma had died. She started crying and then we got permission for her to call her parents, which she did and then we went back to work. I know it is hard for her, but honestly the mission field you just use it to help spread the joy of the gospel to others. God is so mindful of her and even though all was happening it wasn’t such a bad day… I don’t know. I feel bad. I do what I can to lift her up.

Has the weather started getting colder there?
Yes it’s been cold, but the last couple of days have been a little more pleasant.

How is your companion’s spanish coming along?
It’s not too bad.. She still has a way to go but she is improving quickly.

Do they do anything for Halloween in your mission?
Ya.. they have us go home early and do weekly planning. Whoopdee doo

Do you need more shoes? If so, what kind?
cute boots… a girl can dream…
