Sweet sweet Family,
I forgot to tell you that they did get the AC fixed, I think that was just a tender mercy from the Lord.
The greatest blessing about getting emergency transferred is that I just was able to go to the temple for the second time this transfer. I think it’s just what I needed. The greatest surprise that I got to see my MTC companion Hermana Williams! I love that girl more than I can say. I’m serious, I’ve lucked out in the companion department so far. They’ve all been super awesome and helped me and my investigators learn so much.
Croft and I are doing great, we get along quite well. We have been doing a lot of service, gardening like mom would be proud of, and yes continuously working on my farmers tan. 🙂 We are at a stand still with member missionary work, a lot like how it was in the last area. But just like in the last area, we’ve got a plan. It just takes the members a little bit longer to get the swing of things. I know that this place is going to be booming with missionary work before we know it.
My funny instances/ whatever random things I feel like typing about right now:
#1- As we were ending a lesson with Manuel (mangster #1) he said, “you know, you have a good day too god.” 🙂 Ya, prayers have gotten a lot less formal since I’ve been here in Warden.
#2- Tito is this little bitty mexican man who is married to this tall big white lady. Honestly, I will have to get a photo for you all because they just look bizarre together. We knock on the door and in this crazy grumpy voice he says “GET IN HERE. NOW SIT DOWN!” then I asked his wife to go to the bathroom and he says “GET IN THERE.” anyways, he is literally one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life, he had me in tears multiple times in our visit. He also gave us all these candy and a candy bar wrapped in a two dollar bill, he said, “I know people..” and “I’m just a messican.” “… no… I’m still just a messican.” I don’t even know how to explain how funny he is, I think you’re all just going to have to meet this guys someday.
#3- I definitely got my first REAL attack by dogs. 9 little nippers. We had a referral to get to, and god’s work doesn’t stop for stupid pets. I definitely got scratches all up my legs and I think one nipped my thy. It was terrifying. What kind of a person has 9 feo dogs?? gross!
#4 this town, is ridiculously behind on style choices.
#5- Last night as we were trying to get in with some less actives/ tracting a bit we stopped to talk to this guy Frank. In the middle of one of his sentences he said, “Excuse me, I just took out my teeth..” then to console him I told him I sound weird when I have to put in my retainer. Ya… smooth move hna Holladay. but he just laughed.
Well, pray for us to find more to teach (preferably through the members). Also pray that I don’t vomit from the stench.
Congrats to everyone on the big changes in life that are happening. It sounds crazy back home. I’m excited for all of you.
Questions:
How are you adjusting to the new location. Is it a bigger city or town than you were in before?
How are you adjusting to the new location. Is it a bigger city or town than you were in before?
I’m adjusting pretty well, my heart bleeds a little every week when I read Hna Robison’s emails about my Basin City investigators. But I think that’s just part of the game. It is a more condensed area which is super nice, and it always smells.. “like warden.”
Where is your new companion from? How many brothers and sisters does she have?
She is from Scottsdale Arizona and she is the oldest of four. One sister who is almost 19, a 17 yr old brother, and a 13 yr old.
Who are you currently working with in your new ward or branch?
We have a list of more less actives than actives in this one. We have picked up a few to focus on the Rigby family who I’m sure I’ll end up telling you more about, the Garzas and this crazy man named Tito (his wife is active).
How big is the ward or branch?
Well I’m still doing both English and Spanish, the branch is tiny, but it does have more actives than basin did. probably about 15-20 people every week. Then the ward… eh.. who knows.
Now.. I know what I want for my birthday. I didn’t bring photos of.. anything, so I want a book of the family and maybe a couple with my best buddies. You can print some cool ones at walmart I think, but it would probably take a little work, because I don’t want you to send any that I look hideous in. Preferably. YAY being a spoiled missionary. But really… I’d like to have one, since I’m a noof and didn’t do that on my own before I left.
With all my love,
Hermana Holladay
