Hey the family,
Well another week came and went. I don’t really feel in the mood to email right now. So I will do my best to make this as exciting as I can manage.
Also this dumb comp wont let me upload photos.
Last week was just crazy meeting after crazy meeting. Tuesday we went clear down into Kennewick for the temple, then Wednesday we had to go to Wenatchee for this training thing, Thursday we had zone meeting, and Friday we exchanged cars, got our brakes fixed, and then went on exchanges. Yeup.
So these are the things that I have found out about Warden: the members have no trust for the missionaries, we are only 30% active in the ENGLISH ward, we literally have no progressing investigators, missionary work has a bad name in Warden, and Warden has a bad name among the missionaries.
The most exciting thing was that we got to talk with our ward mission leader. From the first day I got here all I have heard is that he doesn’t want to help us and blah blah blah. We met with him and it just really sounds like he got super burnt out from the missionaries that have been in the area. He asked us to be working with less actives (ya duh we are at 70% inactivity) and to rebuild trust that other missionaries have burned with the members. So that’s what we are trying to do together; rebuild this area from square one, and not try and jump the gun and go to square ten. He also said “I think you and Sister Croft are exactly what this place needs.” So I am just praying that we can leave here with a little less of a mess.
We also got transfer calls. Every single person in my Zone is being moved (mainly just to another spot in the zone) except for me and Hermana Croft. The only interesting news with that is that President Ware called at ten en la manana. He asked if I was willing to be Sister Training Leader, and I said, “of course.” (what am I going to say, “no.”) He then told me it was the best reaction that he had gotten all morning. It’s not really a big deal because all it means is that I have to go to a meeting once a month and go on more exchanges (as far as I know) but in the handbook it talks about your area being a model for other missionaries.. Ya… it’s not… So that is semi-stressful. 😛 but Hermana Croft and I will finish her training a week or so before the transfers are over, so we will just be able to go out like normal missionaries, that will be nice. By that I mean we will go out at noon as apposed to one. 🙂
Now the only thing funny that I can even think of: We were trying to find our dinner appointment yesterday when we turned down “the right road.” On that road, which ended up being a little dirt path that made me have some mean vibrato. We found the source of the Warden stink. Yes… it is a little pond thing that has about two feet of muck on the top. We were both holding our noses screaming as we tried to drive faster down the bumpiest road known to man! We got off the road and ended up about twelve feet away from where we started. I was like, “man, that was like a little loop… a loop that smells like stink. A poop loop if you will.”
The Church is true
Well that’s all,
Hermana Holladay
The Questions from mom:
Let me know if you need me to send you anything.
Nope I’m doing well.
If there are any pictures in particular that you would like, let me know and we’ll start looking for them. I think I’ll have Bekah help out with this since she works at the photo lab at Macey’s and can watch for a good sale to print the pictures.
I want the one of us in the Ocean at Costa Rica. The one with mom and dad up in the unitas, and if we have any family photos. Then just a cute one of everybody. Also if you could get a couple of me with Brynn and Tori, and if I have any awesome other friends I have forgotten about, that would be cool too.
Do you still eat with the members, or do you and Sister Croft cook? Did the one sister in Basin make you pasta with chicken and alfredo sauce? She asked me what your favorite foods were and that’s what I told her.
Well we are supposed to eat with members, just depends on when they sign up. Sister Saulsburry didn’t get the chance.. She told me about it when I told her I was getting emergency transferred. I miss that woman.
