Hey family,
Well we had temple day today, and I have to tell you, it was well needed. I’m also not in the mood to write very much right now.. but lots of funny things have happened this last week so I’m having an internal debate over whether or not I’m going to write about any of it.
But before I go off on any of that.. Shout out to Aunt Margene for always sending me cards! I love it a lot. So thank you so much. I’m going to get back to write you one of these days, but as I’m sure you know missions get a little crazy sometimes.
I got a new CD at Far west today, and then this sweet worker gave us all these old ones they had in the back for FREEEEE. It was just about the kindest thing I have ever experienced. The CD I actually purchased was done by the lady who plays Emma Smith in the Joseph smith movies. Her name evades me however.
So last week was the fourth and we met our new mission President. His name is President Ware. I really like him because one of the first things he does is call one of our APs a “kill joy.” So obviously I’m a big fan so far. That and we have a sister who is really sick and she is my favorite person alive, the doctors told her she needs to go home, but President Ware is just like, “heck no!” He seems like a pretty good guy to me. He’s also very spiritual. Also on the Day of Independence we were sent home early. I thought it would be so fun and exciting, basically we put on pants.. and then… we remembered we are missionaries and all we are allowed to do is study the gospel, and talk to people. So it really wasn’t very exciting and I would have rather just spent the day normal.
Also we had the fourth of July Parade, which consisted of random farmers throwing candy, and then a fire truck spraying people with water. It was quite honestly the greatest parade I have ever seen. Also the biggest amount of OYMs that we have ever gotten in such a short period of time.
We have become friends with this very less active family lately. They are technically in the Elders’ territory, but we work with them because they’re female. One is named Claira and she is about a million Yrs old and has every health problem known to man, and only one arm. and Rose who is half native american and way just a personality. Anyways Rose made us food on friday night (after we had already eaten) and we go to town on these ginormous taco burrito things, but then I started to be so full I thought I was going to blow. I made a comment about how full I was getting and Rose takes a look at me and says, “Like I always tell my Grandchildren, You will clean that plate.” Then I think my eyes just got wide as I realized I was doomed. So Rose goes out to take a smoke and Claira jumps up and grabs plastic wrap and we hide the burrito in my bag. Later that night as I was just drifting into a soft sleep I exclaimed, “THERE’S A BURRITO IN MY BAG!!” Then Hermana Robison and I laughed about all the crazy things that could have happened with that burrito.
I think that story is way less funny in writing….
Well everyone is doing pretty well. I’m doing well. Hermana Robison is good. We found a family of five last week. Which is great because new investigators have been few and far between this summer.
I love you all,
Hermana Holladay
How are your investigators and new converts all doing?
Randy is doing great, we have almost convinced him of a mission. Ana is ok, but her mom got a job and now she has to watch the rest of the million children her mom has on sundays. Jose, he is still just the man. Gary Hoskins is doing well and teaching the 12 yr olds sunday school class with Carol.
Noe could still use some prayers. I am getting that guy baptized if it’s the last thing I do.
Is it very hot there? (It’s been at or near 100 a few days already here in Lindon)
It’s hot. Hot hot hot. I have the weirdest missionary tan known to man. Worse than a farmers tan I will tell you that!
