I’m sorry my letters have been boring lately. I get tired of writing
week after week and not being able to tell about someone getting
baptized… I took the Christ Attributes test in Preach my Gospel,
and I scored everything up. The only area I got an F in was
Patience… and I got like a D in hope… So, I guess that tells me
where I need to improve in my Christlike qualities… Don’t really
want to admit to anything else about that test, but I only got like an
A in Humility (how does that even work?).
The questions for patience are like this: are you patient in waiting
for things in the Lord’s timing? and, Do you patiently wait for
promised blessings? So that’s what I’m gonna work on. Waiting for
the Lord’s time. I don’t know why I haven’t had more success, but
there was one missionary I know that is amazing and he only had 19
baptisms his entire mission, and another missionary who is also
awesome, but not quite as nice… who had 78.
So the truth is that we really can’t do anything. All our baptisms
are just downright blessings, sometimes God gives them to us, and
sometimes He doesn’t.
I’m hoping he’s giving to us this month though. Our ward mission
leader brought his dad to church, and one of our investigators we
invited came to a session of conference, AND we got a reference from
the ward for a young girl who wanted to get baptized before, but
apparently her parents wouldn’t give her permission until now.
My new area is called Candelaria, Paraiso. My companion is Hna
Marquez–I got really scared I would have to be with the nurse because
she went to our change meeting and they didn’t tell us where we were
going or who we’d be with until they put the place names and our names
and pictures up on the screen. But anyways, Hna Marquez is great.
She’s a californian, but her parents are from El Salvador. It’s weird
to talk to someone in English a lot.
Candelaria feels like it’s a different country. The area is huge and
all the houses are far apart and it reminds of how it is when we go
camping… Everything’s dead right now, but I imagine it is going to
be really pretty when the rain starts.
I realized I stop noticing things after a while, but there are these
weird bugs here that sound like a strange kind of alarm,
Embrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Doens’t bug me anymore.
Haha. Get it!? Bug me!???
How are you? I got a cold and I couldn’t turn my head for a while
because of muscle cramps in my neck and I started crying because it
hurt and I thought they would send me home, but then Hna Marquez gave
me a massage and it was all right. It’s pretty much better now.
How are your investigators?
Well, we met this lady who supposedly dreamed about her sister, but
then her sister had blue eyes and it was me. And usually in stories
these people get baptized, but she’s one of the people who says, “I
don’t like to commit” and those are red flag people.
Who can we pray for? Walter, Daniel and Kenya, and Alexandra (the girl
who I haven’t met yet).
