The Book of Mormon

Well, I guess I’ve thought more about my spiritual experiences on the mission since Dad asked me, and when I was thinking about it… there are lots of moments when we testify of things and we feel the spirit testifying that they are true–but the times that I have most felt that–more than anything else–is when I’ve testified of the Book of Mormon.

Our Zone Conference yesterday was about using the Book of Mormon more.  I really liked an example our President gave us about how he was trying to explain to someone that didn’t want to go back to church because he didn’t want to forgive someone and he was determined–even after an hour of discussion–that he would not go back to church until this man came to him and asked forgiveness.

Then the scripture that explains that if we do not forgive the greater sin is ours came to President’s mind (gonna find the reference later today…) and he pulled the scripture out, showed it to the brother and the brother said, “Whoa, God said that?  I guess I have to forgive him then because I don’t want to have the greater sin.”

“I could have saved myself an hour of time if I had just taken out the scripture in the first place…”

Wow.  That’s a good lesson to learn.  I’ve made the mistake of thinking sometimes it’s faster just to explain it in our own words than try and explain it out of the scriptures because often times people don’t understand the scriptures and the scripture language… but obviously that’s me depreciating… is that a word? God’s word is powerful.  Much more than us.

Well, the work is not going as good.  We need to get family and priesthood holders to church because we need to help the church in Belize grow.  Please pray that some new families and sacerdocios will go to church this Sunday.

Sis Duarte finishes her mission on the 5th of December so I have no idea what’s going to happen to me because a ton of sisters are going home and a ton of sisters will be coming soon.  (They predict our misison will have 250 instead of 181 missionaries in the next few months…)  So maybe I might go back to El Salvador to train… we’ll see.

You should watch these videos because they’re AMAZING: http://www.lds.org/?lang=eng
