Belmopan–week 6!?

Hello dearly beloved seres queridos,

To answer Dad’s questions about my comp, she is from Honduras (like Hna Estrada, but she comes from a part of Honduras that is actually A LOT like the United States) I believe she now has 14 months in the mission (two transfers more than me) so she only has about 3 or 4 transfers left.  I always work with old missionaries.  It’s kind of weird because usually the sisters get to be senior comp after 6 or 8 months or something, but I’ve gotten to work with a lot of sisters who have a lot of experience.  It’s kind of nice because they all already know more than me…  She loves to joke around and bug me.  She wants to be a professional forensic doctor and solve crimes like that.  She has quickly converted to Sweet and Sour Chicken since she’s been with me, and she can almost say it in English now.

Well, we’ve reached the time… to write.

Dear Family,

I and Hna Duarte… are having emotional breakdowns left and right out here.  Well, not so much anymore, but really… one of us was crying like every few days in the last four weeks, but we’ve finally settled down a little and there hasn’t been any crying or angriness for a while.  I think it’s just because we are both so stressed.   Continue reading “Well, we’ve reached the time… to write.”

SORPRESA!!!!!!!

So, it’s been an interesting week.  Hna Ellis definitely has a stomach infection or parasites/amibas or something, because she is SKINNY.  And I don’t understand how she and Hna Estrada and Hna Marquez have all had parasites and I haven’t yet because I eat all the same food as my companions.  Hna Ellis thinks at our Multizona that she might have eaten some pink chicken meat that I didn’t, but we’re not sure, because we’ve taken a couple tests and parasites haven’t shown up.  It’s weird.  We haven’t been able to work much this week because of that, and we had a Multizona because Elder Maynes from the 70 came and that was like an all-day ordeal because we went to San Salvador (the other mission) since we did it with the two missions combined, and yesterday we had a Sisters Meeting.

Querido familia… Les quiero mucho…  Thanks for the Renaissance Hymns.  I quite enjoy them.  I also got like four letters the other day, and that made me very happy because I thought you guys hadn’t written me for a little while.  Things are going pretty great…  We are now forbidden to eat in restaurants though, so that’s a little bit sad, but it’s for the better because we do get kind of distracted when we go out to eat on pdays because there’s always music and stuff.  But we’re going to order pizza today, so that should be excitin. Buenas! Buenas!!

Well we are just about finishing up another week, and we ended May with a crazy last-minute baptism.  Giovani and Javier (older brothers of Blanquita) got baptized on …  Wednesday.  We weren’t sure Giovani was ready (we didn’t have to teach Javier because he’s 8 yrs old and his parents are members so he just counts as a ward baptism instead of a mission one) before because… well, he’s 13yrs old and doesn’t like to listen to us that much unless his dad makes him.  But our District Leader brought up a good point that it is the parent’s responsibility to get their kids to get baptized (see D&C 68), so we were like… yeah… that’s a good point…

Help me…

Well, I’m pretty upset and trying not to seriously lose the spirit because I can’t use punctuation with this computer.  Sigh.  No exclamation points, pues.  Me and Hna Ellis are doing good, I’m sending a picture of blanquita and some of the 13 people in her family.  Here’s what you guys can pray for for me:

Week 1 in Modelo

We’re working really hard with Blanquita’s family.  Their two parents are inactive/ reactivating.  The dad came to church with five of his kids this Sunday from a soccer game they were watching, and he’s really excited to come back to church.  We’ve been trying to get his wife to come too, but she’s been hiding from us for some reason we’ve yet to discover.  Blanquita and one of their other sons Javier are going to get baptized this Saturday, and we’re hoping Giovani and Daniel can get baptized next week.  Evelyn seems to have some trouble because her older sisters go to an Evangelist church, and she is going to both our church and theirs.  (There are 11 kids in this family.  And the oldest is 17 and it goes down to like a one-year-old, it’s crazy, and they’re the poorest people I have ever met).
