Dear Family,
It was a little disappointing of a week because 5 baptismal dates fell through because Sister Orellano said she couldn’t come to church because her pastora from the other church she goes to is angry with her for going to our church and she has that “commitment” to go to the other church and she doesn’t seem to understand the Restoration after all… and Brother Orellano was drunk… and if the parents go, the kids go too. We also lost another one because Brother Alejandro got called in to work… and so now of course the Zone Leaders are asking us to baptize him Sunday, but we’ll see.
However, we are going to have Aldo Escobar get baptized this weekend. He’s a little 11-yr-old boy from a less-active family.
It really amazes me more and more how important visiting and home teaching are–and how LAZY members (me in the past included) are about doing ONE visit in ONE month. (I’d actually forgotten it was only once a month, I was thinking it was once a week and thinking how easy it would be just to do ONE visit ONCE a week…) I mean, don’t we see our friends once a week? What the Escobar family said was that they joined the church when there was this friendly, friendly branch president, but that when he left everything went downhill. And of course, we should all be faithful whether or not our ward helps us out, but there should never be members who say, “No one comes here. No one visits anymore.” NEVER! Who do we represent anyways!? What do we believe in anyways!? What did Jesus Christ do his whole life!? (Just ranting. This is not directed to anyone in particular).
We are also working with a sister who is married to a member and has wanted to get baptized for a long time, they just thought there was a problem with her papers but it turns out there’s not really a prob with her papers after all. her name is Allison, and she’s great! 😀
Love you all,
Bek
