Richard and Sergio baptized!!??

Well, we had another last minute baptism.  Man.  This work is crazy.  I feel a constant desperation like we just have to keep throwing people in the water as soon as they say “yes.”  Wah!  Get in there and don’t come out till you’re CLEAN!!
Yes…  We were planning on this youth, Sergio, to get baptized the next week, we had given him two options because he didn’t like to commit, and he has also kindof been an eternal investigator because most of his family was baptized and are inactive, but he never wanted to get baptized before.  So we told him, you wanna be baptized the 18th or the 24th?  And he was saying, “I don’t know, I don’t know… I think the 24th.”  Up until Thursday, and finally on Friday he had prayed and we met with him, and we said, “How are you doing for being baptized the 24th?”

“The 24th?  Why not the 18th?”

What?!

OK, can’t complain.  So we were planning to have Richard and Sergio’s baptism on the 18th and then we found out that all the leaders would be gone to a meeting Saturday, so we had to plan the baptism for early Sunday morning or wait til the next week.  0_o  So we got up early Sunday and more than getting investigators, we tried to get the baptism ready.  Luckily pres helped and filled up the font and set up chairs and everything, but of course neither Richard nor Sergio had shown up at 7:00 when they were supposed to be there, so we did divisions to go get them.  Sergio got there, but the Bricenos still hadn’t shown up, so I called to see if they were ready and if we could go get them for the baptism.  They didn’t answer, so Sis Duarte stayed with Sergio and everyone and I went to get Richard.  We got there about 7:40 (the baptism was supposed to start at 7:30) and… everyone was asleep.

They had misunderstood that the baptism was Sunday, and NOT the next Saturday.  We’d told them over the phone and tried to look for them and we even asked Richard if he was ready for tomorrow the day before but there was some kind of confusion and Sis Briceno had told Richard it wasn’t til next Saturday… so I was like, you guys, please hurry, you’re getting baptized this morning.  So they all got ready as fast as they could, and we got to church about 8:30 and when we walked in Sis Duarte said, “Sergio got baptized,” and his cousin rubbed his head so that I saw water drops flying off.  I stood with my mouth open for a while and then said, “Congratulations!”

So… I missed Sergio’s baptism, but it’s all right because if I hadn’t gone for Richard he wouldn’t have been able to make it on time to be baptized, and who know’s what can happen in a week, so better do it as quick as you can… :S  Bummer.

What happened with the hurricane/tropical storm?  It rained, and it was windy.  Nothing exciting.  Just scared me a little to think I wouldn’t have any idea what to do if there WAS a problem…

When are you going to send those pictures?  I just sent you a year’s worth.  Every pic I have on 2 DVDs.  Don’t know when you’ll get em.

Love,
Bek

p.s. please pray that we can find new people who are positive.  We’re running out.
