No More Sugar!

So, Martin changed his baptismal date to the 18th so he could have more time to prepare and it should workout nicely so we don’t have to cram so much with the lessons. He really does have a very strong testimony! It’s pretty cool to get to see how fast he learns and understands the lessons. We were teaching the plan of salvation to him the other day and he told us he had a couple of questions. I don’t remember the first one but the second question was basically why was there polygamy in the church and what’s the story behind that. So we explained that it was a commandment of god in that time and that as a church we no longer practice polygamy because God doesn’t want us to do that at this time. He was totally cool about it and was kind of like “oh.. ok. That makes sense. :)”

I’m not sure if I’ve talked about Martin before but he’s 17 and nobody in his family is a member, but his little sister who’s 10 I think wants to get baptized as well, but her mom thinks she’s too young and brings her to the Evangelical church with her.
So starting yesterday early in the morning my companion got super sick and was throwing up a ton. We went to District meeting (A 1 hour bus ride away) and I taught the English class for the Latino Missionaries while my companion was in the bathroom throwing up and then we headed home while they actually started the district meeting. It was rough for poor Hermana Horton. She still feels pretty crummy today and is having a hard time stomaching any kind of food even the easier stuff. (BRAT diet) Luckily I got some time in the house while she was trying to recuperate and I got to work on my egg making skills as well as write some letters for the people from Santa Juana and Cautin.
I feel like I can relate pretty good to people who have addictions, because I cannot seem to stop eating sugar. I’ve been trying and trying, but people just keep on giving me more and more. I think at this point I’ll just avoid buying myself sugar and just eat healthy stuff instead but if somebody offers me sugar I’ll just eat it depending on the situation cuz otherwise most Chileans get offended.
This week we got to have an intercambio with the sister training leaders which are Hermana Anderson (Don’t know if you remember but she was starting with me in Santa Juana) and Hermana Millward who is from my group. They’re both going home with me in November so that should be a party. 🙂 I learned a lot from Hermana Anderson. She literally contacted at least every other person we saw (I think it was almost every person we saw) and I realized that I haven’t been contacting as much and it kind of makes me feel like less of a missionary so I’m going to be working on that.
